If you have a dash warning light or fault code on your vehicle dash a diagnostics scan can highlight issues before more serious damage occurs.

Most modern vehicles have an on-board computer that is known as an Engine Control Unit (ECU) that constantly monitors the vehicle.

Sensors around the vehicle report back to the ECU whenever there are problems such as increased temperature in the engine or low fluid levels.

When a fault is found the ECU generates an error code. The warning lights on the dashboard will then be displayed.

There are lots of potential error codes that can only be read by specialist vehicle diagnostic equipment.

While the dashboard may display a warning light, a diagnostics check is needed to understand the cause of the problem.
